U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodríguez is doing an excellent job as Venezuela begins restoring its oil flow, signaling improving cooperation between Washington and Caracas.
In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump expressed support for Rodríguez and highlighted growing collaboration between U.S. representatives and Venezuelan leadership. According to Trump, the renewed oil production and export activity marks a positive development for both nations after years of strained relations and restrictions on Venezuela’s energy sector.
“Delcy Rodríguez, who is the President of Venezuela, is doing a great job, and working with U.S. Representatives very well. The oil is beginning to flow, and the professionalism and dedication between both countries is a very nice thing to see,” Trump wrote in his post.
Trump’s remarks came shortly after U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum met with Rodríguez in Venezuela on Wednesday. The meeting signals renewed diplomatic engagement between the two countries, particularly regarding energy cooperation and Venezuela’s oil industry.
Venezuela holds some of the world’s largest proven oil reserves, but its oil production has declined significantly over the past decade due to economic turmoil, infrastructure issues, and international sanctions. Any increase in Venezuelan oil output could have implications for global energy markets, especially as governments seek additional supply sources to stabilize prices.
The reported progress in Venezuela’s oil sector suggests that efforts to revive production may be gaining momentum. Collaboration between U.S. officials and Venezuelan authorities could also influence future policy decisions related to sanctions and energy trade.
Trump’s public endorsement of Rodríguez underscores a potential shift in diplomatic tone between the United States and Venezuela. As oil production begins to recover, analysts and energy market observers will likely monitor whether increased cooperation leads to sustained oil exports and broader economic improvements for Venezuela.
