“The Last of Us Part 2” has been heavily speculated to come out this year following a string of clues from different reliable sources. However, all those have been dispelled by credible gaming journalist Jason Schreier of Kotaku.
According to him, “The Last of Us Part 2” has now been bumped to a 2020 release date due to “Death Stranding” hitting the shelves this November. Hideo Kojima’s latest brainchild released a new trailer last week, intensifying the hype surrounding the title.
However, fans and critics alike are still at a loss what “Death Stranding” is about and what gaming genre it should be categorized. Be that as it may, the game has now taken the fall release and “The Last of Us Part 2” is expected to come out in the early parts of 2020.
With “Ghost of Tsushima” also not having a release date yet, the three titles are looking to carry the PlayStation 4 into its final cycle before ultimately relinquishing the torch to the much-awaited PlayStation 5. “The Last of Us Part 2” is rumored to have been built to take advantage of the next-gen console’s spectacular hardware, adding more fuel to the already roaring excitement of the sequel.
Meanwhile, game director Neil Druckmann has once again fallen silent regarding news about “The Last of Us Part 2.” In April, Druckmann unleashed a slew of announcement surrounding the title, ranging from the conclusion of performance capture to the final shot of the game’s ending scene.
Last month, co-game director Anthony Newman posted on Twitter that the team is looking for talented individuals that will help in polishing “The Last of Us Part 2.” Newman gave emphasis to the Melee Animator position and said that those chosen to work for the title would be dealing with “dope” animations.
Although some are disappointed about the release date of “The Last of Us Part 2,” others are still willing to give Naughty Dog some slack as they want the sequel to be perfect. After all, this title is one of the most anticipated games by the community rivaled only by CD Projekt Red’s “Cyberpunk 2077.”
