If you said last year that the Pocophone F2 will not be coming out in August 2019, you would’ve been laughed at. The F1 was so successful in its launch that its influence can still be felt a year later, with the mid-range market constantly asking Xiaomi when the sequel device will be released.
Unfortunately, the company remains mum about the Pocophone F2, so it’s difficult even to speculate what it will bring on the table. Add the fact that the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro is basically an upgraded F1 and the problem gets more complicated.
One of the most discussed aspects of the Pocophone F2 is how it will differentiate itself from the Redmi K20. While this remains unconfirmed for now, one of the changes that we’ll likely see is on the processor of the handset, TechRadar reported.
Pocophone F2’s processor
The Redmi K20 Pro has been outfitted with the Snapdragon 855 chip. The Pocophone F2, on the other hand, might sport the Snapdragon 855 plus. The assumption is due to the F1 getting the latest processor on the market.
If Xiaomi wants the Pocophone F2 to succeed, then it’ll likely follow the formula that made the first entry quite the hit. After all, keeping up with the current trend is crucial for any handset’s success.
Another feature that could separate the Pocophone F2 from the Redmi K20 Pro is the camera, specifically the snapper on the front. Where the latter is sporting a pop-up camera, the former is rumored to have a punch-hole design instead, Mighty Gadget reported.
The speculation is rooted in a design patent that closely resembles the F1 but with a triple-camera set-up and the aforementioned punch-hole selfie snapper. If true, then the feature would be a welcome transformation for the Pocophone F2 since the notch has become unpopular among users.
Pocophone F2 rumored to have an OLED display
The screen of the Pocophone F2 is rumored to be upgraded as well. The Redmi K20 is sporting an AMOLED screen, while rumors are claiming that the F2 would have an OLED display. For good measure, the sequel should also part ways with the plastic rear and transition to a glass body to make the device fancier.
With regards to the release date of the Pocophone F2, nothing has been announced so far. However, given the silence of Xiaomi, it’s unlikely that it will come out this year, although there is still a possibility that it will hit the shelves on the latter parts of 2019. But that’s just a speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt.
