PlayStation 5 Pro Leak Hints at AI Upscaling, Zen 2 CPU for Enhanced Gaming

According to a leaked Marvel's Wolverine slide that has been making the rounds online, the PlayStation 5 Pro is likely to allow AI upscaling in some way.

Recent Marvel's Wolverine Leak Appears to Confirm PlayStation 5 Pro AI Upscaling Support

The slide, which is part of the massive Insomniac Games leak from last month, reveals some of the technology that will be used in the game or is being examined, as per WCCFTech. Aside from film-quality facial animation, improved destruction, real-time damage, and regeneration, real-time global illumination, dynamic weather and foliage, deformable surfaces, and improved locomotion, the game starring one of Marvel Comics' most beloved heroes will also feature AI upscaling powered by machine learning, as well as 60 frames per second base framerate in performance ray tracing mode.

Because the PlayStation 5 lacks dedicated hardware to handle AI upscaling, it is highly likely that it will only be available on the PlayStation 5 Pro. It's also not referring to AMD FSR support, which, unlike NVIDIA DLSS, isn't powered by machine learning.

Previous PlayStation 5 Pro Rumors Suggest AI Upscaling Capabilities, Zen 2 CPU Integration

This isn't the first time the PlayStation 5 Pro has been rumored to allow AI upscaling, as a recent leak revealed how the device will have dedicated hardware for it. While the leak may not be totally true, it is plausible in terms of the console's CPU, as the reported Zen 2 CPU makes the most sense given how other chips would raise production costs.

In early December, leaker @Kepler_L2 claimed that the speculated Pro model's CPU upgrade is minor in comparison to the PS5's current CPU, and this fresh information from the ResetEra user contains some additional specifics on the CPU. According to this leak, the PS5 Pro will retain the Zen2 architecture found in the existing PS5, although with a higher dynamic peak frequency.

Sony has yet to introduce the PlayStation 5 Pro. We will keep you updated on the system as more information becomes available, so stay tuned for all the latest updates.
