Voters in Maryland's 8th Congressional District recently reported receiving sample ballots in the mail with incorrect names and addresses, leading to confusion and concerns just ahead of the upcoming election. The Montgomery County Board of Elections (BOE) acknowledged that more than 130,000 sample ballots were affected by the error, which stemmed from a spreadsheet issue during the printing process. According to officials from Montgomery County, 132,217 sample ballots were mailed to voters across the district, but many recipients reported that the names on their sample ballots did not match their own. The BOE confirmed that a mistake in the spreadsheet used to print the names and addresses led to the widespread labeling error. While sample ballots are not official voting documents and do not count as actual votes, the error has sparked concern among voters about the accuracy of the voting process.
