LG AI Research introduced its second-generation AI model, EXAONE 2.0, a multimodal, more efficient, and energy-conserving upgrade, during the LG AI Talk Concert. Trained on a vast 45-million patent paper dataset and 350 million images, EXAONE is designed to comprehend language and images, propelling innovations in various sectors from pharmaceuticals to finance.
EXAONE, also known as expert AI for everyone, is a massive, multimodal language model that can comprehend language and images simultaneously, enabling image-to-text generation and vice versa. The latest version of EXAONE has undergone machine learning using an extensive dataset comprising 45 million patent papers and 350 million images, making it the largest professional dataset for any AI service developing company.
With its deep learning algorithm, EXAONE can understand, recognize, and predict text while learning from vast amounts of data. It offers viable solutions and helps answer complex questions in various fields. EXAONE consists of three professional platforms: Universe, Discovery, and Atelier.
EXAONE Universe is a chatbot service initially catering to professionals in the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, and finance sectors, with plans to expand its reach. Discovery is a platform designed to support groundbreaking discoveries, particularly in the bioscience sector, intending to reduce the time required to conduct experiments.
LG intends to open the service to local researchers in the fourth quarter to aid their research efforts. Atelier facilitates collaborative work between AI and designers and artists. In a partnership with the Parsons School of Design in New York, LG aims to develop AI-enabled applications in design and art practices, with findings disseminated through publications and public events.
In addition to these services, LG plans to launch the AI Contact Center, fostering multichannel communication between customers and agents. Initially, a pilot project, the AI Contact Center, is set to be officially launched in the second half of the year.
While primarily a business-to-business service, part of Atelier will be made available to the general public. LG's continuous commitment to research and innovation positions it as a leading force in artificial intelligence.
