Jungkook is undeniably one of the most popular South Korean idol singers today and his popularity has spread worldwide. In fact, he has millions of fans around the world and they can only thank Big Hit Entertainment for letting them know the now 22-year-old and see his talents as well.
The BTS maknae would probably have a different future than what he has today if he chose to train in other entertainment companies. Yes, several agencies tried to recruit Jungkook but he chose to be with a smaller company, and here’s the story about his journey to stardom.
Jungkook’s discovery
The idol singer likes to dance and sing so like most of the other Kpop idols, he auditioned. The only difference is that Jungkook joined in a talent search program called “Superstar K.” In 2011, the show held an audition in Busan, his hometown, and got in. However, he failed to pass in the second round but fortunately, he has gotten enough exposure to be noticed by big agencies.
With his talent, after he was eliminated, Koreaboo mentioned that at least six agencies tried to recruit Jungkook. It was said that FNC Entertainment, JYP and Starship Entertainment were among those companies that expressed interest in the 14-year-old Busan lad.
At that time, Big Hit Entertainment is not well-known yet and was only a small agency but still, Jungkook chose to sign up with them to train and debut. It was revealed that the reason he picked the company was Rap Mon. After hearing him rap, he was really impressed and felt that he wanted to train and work with him and that was the main thing that made him decide to sign with Big Hit and reject the more established ones.
Jungkook’s chart-topping single
Today, it was proven that Jungkook made the right decision to be with his current company. As part of BTS, he continues to soar high and it seems it will only go higher from here. BTS is considered one of the biggest bands in the world and their “Love Yourself” Trilogy has sold over 122 MILLION records, making them the best-selling Korean act in this era.
Jungkook alone has his own single in the album and his “Euphoria” track is showing no signs of slowing down because even after a few years, this is still selling. His solo song is also the highest-selling solo track with 4,025,000 sold worldwide, as per Allkpop.
