One of the most asked questions since the announcement of “Cyberpunk 2077” was whether or not it would be played on either the first-person or third-person perspective. This was finally answered last year as developer CD Projekt Red confirmed the role-playing game would be solely played in FPP, much to the disappointment of some fans.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’: What to expect in the game’s first-person view
There are several factors that gamers considered when choosing between FPP and TPP. To some video game fans, however, favoring TPP is more than just preference since there are people who tend to experience motion sickness more frequently than others. This also explains why people appreciate when AAA games eventually get updates making both FPP and TPP available.
At this point, it appears that the main plan for “Cyberpunk 2077” is to be played entirely in FPP. This was reiterated when CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais was interviewed by OnMSFT. Mamais mentioned that the shift to FPP is one of the ways the upcoming game is different from their previous big project, “The Witcher 3.”
Mamais also referred to the decision to have “Cyberpunk 2077” be played in FPP as “controversial.” The concern of some fans with motion sickness was also addressed in the same interview.
“There’s stuff planned so you’ll be able to change your depth of field, reduce the head-bobbing effect, and some other stuff that we want to do to make sure that people don’t get sick,” Mamais further explained. However, there are other parts of the game that will be viewed in TPP, such as when the “Cyberpunk 2077” main protagonist – customized by the players – uses vehicles.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’ release date: Developers confirm launch delay
CD Projekt Red took their time before saying anything specific about the release date window for “Cyberpunk 2077.” The announcement of the first release date was only made at E3 2019 – more than seven years since the development of the RPG was confirmed.
“Cyberpunk 2077” was initially set to go live on Apr. 16 this year. However, CD Projekt Red came out with another announcement last month, confirming that it needs more time to complete the game’s development, ultimately moving the launch to Sept. 17.
