Much about “Alita: Battle Angel 2” is still uncertain, but the way the first movie wrapped up is plot leaves the events of the sequel quite possible to determine. Even though Disney and 20th Century Fox have yet to decide on the live-action movie’s future, it is not difficult to deduce that a slew of new characters would most likely be introduced should the next film be produced.
‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’ cast, plot possibilities: Rosa Salazar’s Alita to be joined by a band of new characters?
The titular character, played by Rosa Salazar, would most definitely remain as a focal point of the plot. By the end of the first movie, she appeared to have finally won the Motorball tournament, and that means she will earn the ticket to going to Zalem. Since her father figure, Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz), survived in the first movie and is originally from Zalem, it would make sense for him to return in “Alita: Battle Angel 2” and might even accompany Alita in her next journey.
Another very possible appearance in “Alita: Battle Angel 2” is by the most likely villain, Nova (Edward Norton). Aside from the Alita, Nova was the only character shown in the last frames of the first movie. With a smug smirk on his face, Nova was watching the Motorball and was looking down on Alita – how this sequence was set up clearly indicates that their rivalry will be the main conflict in a sequel.
Most of Alita’s enemies have also been defeated in the first movie. She also did not have that many friends, while some of the people who have gotten close to her were killed, namely Dr. Chiren (Jennifer Connelly) and her love interest Hugo (Keean Johnson). But movies centered on adventures of the main protagonists are not fun without supporting characters, which makes it very possible for “Alita: Battle Angel 2” to introduce more good guys as well.
‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’ release date: When to expect the sequel’s premiere
As mentioned, it is not difficult to consider the plot possibilities for “Alita: Battle Angel 2.” However, the actual fate of the sequel still hangs in the balance as Disney remain silent on whether or not a second movie will be produced.
Meanwhile, even if the movie would be announced this year, it would mean that fans will have to wait for a few more years to actually see “Alita: Battle Angel 2” in theaters. It can be recalled that the earliest reports pointing to the production of the first movie date back to 2000, but it was not released until February last year.
