A new rumor concerning the release date of the AirPods 2 is gaining traction on the web where it claims that the wireless earphones will come out on March 29. The rumor originated from Spanish website AppleSfera saying that they got their information from an inside source who requested to remain anonymous.
The insider– who’s apparently privy to the internal operations within the Asia-Pacific market – supposedly provided evidence of this. The proof in question came in the form of a screenshot that spells the end of the original AirPods’ life cycle. The date will be on March 28, just one day before Apple will allegedly reveal the AirPods 2.
Of course, since nothing has been confirmed by Apple and the website being an unknown leaker, it’s best to take this claim as a rumor for now. At the moment, the Cupertino-based company remains mum about the features of the AirPods 2, leading analysts to speculate what Apple has outfitted the wireless earphones.
There are a lot of claims being thrown around on the web. Perhaps the most exciting among them is the possibility of the AirPods 2 acting as a hearing aid. Although this is currently unconfirmed information, there are indications that this might be the case if the company’s recent patent filing is anything to go by.
Another speculated feature of the AirPods 2 is the addition of Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri. By uttering the phrase “Hey Siri,” users will be able to interact with the device without physically touching it. There’s also proof that this rumor might make its way into reality thanks to the research done by 9to5Mac.
As for the price of the AirPods 2, there are two opposing rumors that have emerged in the last few months. One claims that the wireless earphones will be retaining the price of its predecessor, while the other is claiming that the cost will increase by $40.
