AirPods 2 is one of Apple’s most anticipated device. And if the rumors prove true, the Cupertino-based company could set the bar high for this niche product.
However, the AirPods 2 recently got a new competition when Samsung unveiled its own wireless earphones called the Galaxy Buds. Priced at $130, it’s already got the cost advantage on the AirPods 2’s predecessor, Macworld reported.
But comparing the AirPods 2 and the Galaxy Buds is difficult at the moment given that the former hasn’t hit the shelves just yet. Most of the things that people know so far come from rumors and speculations that’s been published by tech-savvy websites.
For instance, there’s a rumor going around that the AirPods 2 has been designed to act as a hearing aid. The assumption has some merit to it given that design for such a feature has been seen in Apple’s latest patent filing. There’s also whispers going around that the wireless device will be able to adjust the ambient noise for users, allowing them to hear their surroundings while listening to music during a jog.
And speaking of which, users will supposedly have the option to interact with the AirPods 2 without physically touching it. This will prove useful during a run where people don’t have to fiddle with the device and risk it falling on the ground.
What’s more, the chances of this happening has been reduced by Apple by improving the grip of the device. The company achieved this by coating the AirPods 2 with the same material that can be seen on Google’s Pixel smartphones.
As for the price of the wireless earphones, nothing has been announced just yet. There are reports claiming that the AirPods 2 will have a similar cost to its predecessor, while others say it’s going to bump the price by $40.
Whatever the case, the AirPods 2 and Galaxy Buds will undoubtedly be jostling each other for the number one spot this year and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Regarding the release date of the device, it’s being speculated that it will come out in June at the earliest.
