Steven Woodbridge

Senior Lecturer in History, Kingston University
I am a specialist in 20th century British and European history, with particular expertise in British fascist ideology and the wider nature of fascism and the contemporary extreme right. My research has focused on both the interwar and post-1945 periods, and I keep a close eye on the current state of the far right across Britain, Europe and the wider globe.

I also have research interests in local history (especially Kingston, Richmond and the wider Thames Valley area), the history of film, British politics, political thought and ideology, the nature and impact of war, and the secret state. I also have both academic expertise in and practical experience of cemetery conservation.

I have published articles and book contributions on the ideology, culture and nature of British fascism and the extreme right, together with other aspects of British history. I also regularly produce blogs which cover my on-going or latest research findings. I have delivered a number of staff seminar and academic conference papers on fascism and the extreme right, together with other aspects of political and social history.
