Armin graduated with PhD from the University of Leicester's Centre for Philosophy and Political Economy with a thesis on the reception of Marxism in the business school, having previously studied organisation and sociology in Lancaster and Cambridge. Before joining the University of Siegen as a lecturer in media studies he worked at Bristol Business School at the University of the West of England and at the Centre for Digital Cultures, Leuphana University Lüneburg. Armin works on topics such as open access publishing, value struggles and computing in the city, and algorithmic management.
