I am a a social scientist working at the intersection of social and visual anthropology, sociology, and political science. I received my PhD from the University of Manchester and I hold MA in International Peace Work from the University of Trieste and MA in Philosophy from the University of Lodz. Currently, I work at the Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) and the German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM), both in Berlin. Before coming to Berlin in 2019, I held a Thomas Brown Assistant Professorship at Trinity College Dublin and a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Manchester. I have research expertise in activism and civil society, post-conflict societies, migration, inter-ethnic dynamics, identity and gender. I am the author of two award-winning ethnographic documentaries about invisible migrant activism: 'Active (Citizen)' (with Jan Lorenz), and 'Spółdzielnia/Cooperative'.
