Rod Sims was appointed Chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in August 2011 for an initial five-year term, reappointed for a further three years in August 2016, and reappointed again for a further three years until July 2022, making him the longest-serving Chair of the ACCC.
Rod’s career has covered a wide variety of organisations across the private and public sectors, including Chair of the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of NSW, Commissioner with the National Competition Council, Director of Port Jackson Partners Limited, and Chair of the NSW State Rail Authority. Between 1988 and 1990 Rod was the Principal Economic Advisor to Australia’s Prime Minister.
Rod was awarded the Officer (AO) of the Order of Australia in 2022 for his service to public administration in economic policy and regulatory roles.
