Rose studies how fields like ecology, botany, and medicine are perceived and utilized by the public in urban and rural regions of the USA, Turkey, and France. She is an ethnobotanist, or someone who studies the relationships between plants and people. This is an interdisciplinary field, and Rose holds degrees in both biology and anthropology. Growing political and economic concerns in people-plant relations include intellectual property rights and patents, traditional knowledge and heritage rights, access to viable seeds, and the sustainability of food production. Rose has published in diverse journals, including Economic Botany, and is currently a lecturer in ethics, bioethics, and intercultural issues at Grenoble Ecole de Management.
