PhD Researcher in Medical Studies, Swansea University
I am a PhD researcher in child health and education at Swansea University. I also coordinate the HAPPEN network, aimed at improving the health, wellbeing and education outcomes of primary school children in Swansea. My research uses linked data from the SAIL (Secure Anonymised Information Linkage) databank to explore how child health behaviours affect educational attainment in primary school children.
Prior to starting my PhD, I completed my undergraduate degree in Sports Science and a Masters in Public Health and Health Promotion. Following this, I worked as a researcher on a physical activity intervention for asthmatic children. I have also worked for Swansea City FC Community Trust on a health programme, delivering nutrition and physical activity sessions to children and families in South Wales. In addition, I am a member of the Sport Wales Advisory Group and Public Health Network Cymru Advisory Group.
