Dr. Megerssa is an expert in place-based development, value chains and enterprise ecosystems. He was awarded his PhD in Regional Development (Society and Culture) from the University of Tasmania in 2017. He also holds an MA degree in Geography and Environmental Studies specialising in urban and regional planning (Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, 2007) and a BEd in Geography (Dilla University, Ethiopia, 2002).
Megerssa is interested in a cross-disciplinary research in the fields of social sciences - including place-based development, rural-urban linkages, value/supply chains, networks, social cohesion, social inclusion/exclusion, employment, and entrepreneurship. Megerssa has a strong track record of developing quality research outputs and contributing to research translation through policy development.
