Professor Gender and Childhood Sexuality, University of KwaZulu-Natal
Professor Deevia Bhana is currently the DST/NRF South African Research Chair (SARChI, Tier 1) in Gender and Childhood Sexuality at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her research lies in the areas of gender, sexuality, children, young people and schooling.
This research is informed by a cross-cutting approach, drawing from the sociology of childhood, political economy, critical feminist and sexuality studies, and masculinities. Deevia enjoys considerable international recognition in the field with two fellowships at Columbia University (US) and most recently an academic writing scholar funded by the Rockerfeller Foundation (Italy)
