My research focuses on the nature of resilience to adversity in adulthood and old age and what factors lead to an increased likelihood of individuals overcoming adversity. I am also interested in identifying psychosocial factors that contribute to healthy aging. My current research project focuses on chronicling the ups and downs of individuals in midlife (www.pathwaystocharacter.org). The goals of the research project are to examine the nature of resilience and growth following adversity in midlife and what leads to individuals’ ability to be resilient and grow.
