Professor Sjaak Koenis is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Professor of Social Philosophy, focusing specifically on the relationship between politics and culture, in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University. He is serving as Editor of Philosophy & Practice, Secretary of the Department of Philosophy, and Education Director of the Master of Arts and Social Sciences, as well as member of the Graduate School of Science, Technology, and Modern Culture (WTMC).
Professer Koenis has written two books about Dutch politics:
The Desire for Community: About Morality and Politics in the Netherlands after the Compartmentalization” (2007) and The Desire for Culture: The Netherlands and the End of Religion in Modern Politics (2008).
