LITTLE ROCK, Ark., May 07, 2018 -- Windstream Wholesale, a leading provider of advanced network communications, has announced the upcoming expansion of a new southern route from Los Angeles to Dallas, marking another milestone in the company’s 100G, nationwide fiber network expansion strategy. Connecting to the existing high-density metro fiber network in Phoenix, the new route will add almost 1,700 miles to Windstream’s existing coast-to-coast long-haul network and offers access to the company’s entire suite of cloud-optimized connectivity solutions, including optical Wavelengths, MEF 2.0 Certified Carrier Ethernet, MPLS Dedicated Internet Access and more to the wholesale and resale markets.

With a metropolitan area population approaching 5 million, Phoenix is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, as well as an increasingly important technology hub. According to Forbes, big tech companies are establishing locations in Phoenix, drawn by its lower cost-of-living and well-educated workforce. Windstream’s increased presence in this market provides customers with cost-effective access to greater network diversity options, improved reliability and increased bandwidth capacity - all of which are critical in today’s data-driven business economy.
“Phoenix has become a robust tech market with several key data centers and colocation facilities on our existing fiber assets and is a strategic part of our network growth strategy,” said Mike Shippey, president of Wholesale at Windstream Enterprise and Wholesale. “We look forward to competing aggressively in the market by expanding our efficient, diverse, high-bandwidth service capabilities and network to provide our customers the solutions they need to boost their competitive edge.”
By extending availability of its high-speed, scalable and secure transport solutions, Windstream is enabling transport customers – including large enterprise organizations, ISPs, hyperscale cloud operators, streaming content providers, international carriers and more – to accelerate their cloud migration and digital transformation strategies.
“As a leading national transport provider, our top priorities at Windstream Wholesale continue to be enhancing the customer experience and expanding our network backbone,” said Shippey. “Completing this new corridor between Los Angeles and Dallas demonstrates our commitment to these goals, as we become foremost in the minds of customers – providing in-demand solutions and leveraging our fault-tolerant infrastructure to deliver exceptional performance. Windstream Wholesale delivers that and more.”
The southern route is scheduled for completion in third quarter 2018.
In addition to Wavelengths, Ethernet Solutions and Dedicated Internet Access, Windstream Enterprise & Wholesale offers a range of complementary network and communications solutions to wholesale and resale customers including SD-WAN Wholesale, proprietary OfficeSuite White Label and Cloud SIP and PRI that are collectively designed to help wholesale customers increase productivity, improve ROI and win.
