In “Vikings” season 6 episode 11, Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) and Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky) are expected to enjoy the spoils of war after winning the battle against Bjorn Ironside’s (Alexander Ludwig) army. However, there are speculations saying that the alliance between the two characters might not last for long.

In fact, the alliance might already start to unravel in “Vikings” season 6 episode 11. While they might have ended up as the victors in the recent battle, it is evident that Ivar is starting to distrust Oleg throughout the first half of the series’ sixth season, according to Express.

For instance, Ivar suspects that the reason why Oleg married Katia, whom Ivar believes to be wife Freydis, is to deliberately weaken him. Ivar is also unhappy when Oleg’s treatment and even accused the prince of treating him as his “puppet.”

In the previous episode, it is evident that the Rus Vikings will win the war taking into account that both King Harald and Bjorn are injured. This means that Ivar will be the King of all of Norway while Oleg becomes the King of Kattegat in “Vikings” season 6 episode 11.

But fans believe that their alliance is a short-lived one. “Oh no, I foresee trouble on the horizon for Prince Oleg and Ivar,” one fan tweeted. “2nd half it’s gonna be Ivar trying to overthrow Oleg,” another one wrote.

In an interview with TV Guide, “Vikings” creator Michael Hirst hinted on a few possibilities that could happen in “Viking” Season 6B. He basically confirmed that Ivan has been planning to overthrow Oleg with the help of the latter’s brother.

“Well you know, this isn’t a secret, but Ivar’s been negotiating with Oleg’s brother, who is hoping to overthrow Oleg and, depending obviously on what happens in battle for Kattegatt, you know the plan is that Ivar would become king of all Norway if they succeed in defeating Bjorn and Harald,” Hirst said.

“But if that doesn’t happen, it raises the possibility that Ivar’s plan with Oleg’s brother might come to some sort of fruition” Hirst continued. “I think that the relationship between Oleg and Ivar, again, is a rich and complicated one, and it always has been.”

In Prince Oleg’s case, he is worried about Ivar but is still indecisive about killing him. “Oleg has had all the power, opportunities to kill Ivar,” Hirst added. But Oleg is worried about Ivar and continues to be worried just in case some of what Ivar claims is true. So it goes on being a dynamic relationship where Ivar, who seems to be powerless, is not powerless.”

No matter what Oleg has in store for Ivar, Hirst hinted that the latter will always find ways in dealing with them. “Ivar is clever and intelligent and can find ways around the most difficult situation, and I think that’s what you’ll discover,” the series’ creator added.
