Google has updated its Google Wallet app which will enable users to send money to anyone in their contact list using just a phone number. The latest version of the app will be available on Google Play and Apple Store in the next few days, Google said in a blog post.
The app allows sending money to anyone in the U.S., even if they don’t have an existing Wallet account, all one needs is an email address or a phone number. When a user sends money to a phone number, the recipient will get a text message with a secure link. The recipient can now enter debit card details to claim the money, which will be credited to their bank account within minutes.
In the past few weeks, Google has released a number of updates, including improved contact suggestions, so you see the people you send money to most often first; a security feature that lets you lock the Google Wallet app with the tap of a button and the ability to link a second bank account.
“We’re thrilled with the great feedback we’ve received on the new Google Wallet app, and we’re working hard to make the experience even better”, Google said.
