One of the highly awaited video game events this year, the Summer Games Done Quick (GDQ), recently started, and here are some of the highlight speedruns scheduled for the entire week.

GDQ is an annual event for a cause held by the organization of the same name, and it features a long list of speedruns courtesy of select streamers and gamers. To those not familiar with them, speedruns are playthroughs with the goal of completing an entire game as fast as possible. Generally, speedruns aim to complete the whole title but, in some cases, speedruns are focused on a certain map or level/s with specific items to be collected or difficulty setting.

GDQ’s summer event is intended to raise money for its chosen charity, Doctors Without Borders. The international humanitarian organization is known for its work in over 70 countries providing medical assistance to people caught in wars and those who have been ravaged by natural disasters or epidemics. Doctors Without Borders has been Summer GDQ’s beneficiary since 2013. Last year, the event was able to raise over $1.7 million.

For the remainder of the week, Summer GDQ will continue to present speedruns featuring popular video games. The event kicked off on Sunday and already featured several well-known titles, including “Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos” and “Resident Evil 4” among others.

On Monday, runner Epic will present a playthrough of the action-platform title “Hagane: The Final Conflict” on SNES. Then in the afternoon, the event will feature the top-down action shooter “Monolith” set on Normal mode but on Intense Lethality. Also on Monday, streamers DrakTerrex, Chelney, and Ppotdot1 are going to run the “Mega Man 6” on an NES.

Gamer Beckski93 will be speedrunning “Tomb Raider” on Tuesday, to be followed by the “Resident Evil HD Remaster” by Pessimism. Later, Ranabundana will be speedrunning “Halo 2." Streamer gymnast86 will be next in the lineup with “The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword” on Wii.

On Thursday, the event will present a speedrun of “Deus Ex Mankind Divided” as played on the PC. The same day will feature a lineup of “Super Mario” titles, including the Warpless “Super Mario Bros.” on NES, all forts races in “Super Mario Bros. 3," “Super Mario World” featuring all castles and forts, and “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” as played on 32 tracks at 200cc.

The week-long event has speedruns scheduled up until the end of the month and fans around the world can also watch the official live stream of the Summer GDQ.
