Square Enix announced the Nintendo Switch-exclusive game “Octopath Traveler” at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 last week. Later, the video game company revealed that the title has all the content it needs upon release and no post-launch DLC is in the pipeline.

“Octopath Traveler” is a role-playing adventure game played in a turn-based setup. As the title hints, the game will feature eight distinct characters with unique adventures and missions to complete.

In a recent interview with Dengeki Online (via GameSpot), Square Enix producer Masashi Takahashi confirmed that they have no DLC planned for “Octopath Traveler.” He told the publication, “We haven’t even thought of having DLC. The retail version is a complete game.”

Without any post-launch content, fans who will soon be playing the “Octopath Traveler” can still expect an ample amount of playing time. In the same interview (translated by Siliconera), the game producer revealed that completing the entire gameplay story would bring 50 to 60 gaming hours.

“If you were to play through the substories, optional dungeons, and fully experience everything the world has to offer through the use of path actions, it would take around 80-100 hours,” Takahashi added.

According to the official game listing, the fictional world where “Octopath Traveler” happens is called Orsterra. Upon starting the game, there will be an option to play as one of the eight characters, and this will dictate how the story will begin.

The other seven characters will appear later in the game. Players can recruit them to explore their unique stories. But Takahashi confirmed that the gameplay will also allow players to skip the other characters and pursue just one story throughout the entire campaign.

“Octopath Traveler” is the result of Nintendo and Square Enix’s partnership throughout the years. In fact, Takahashi revealed that the game entered production at a time when Nintendo Switch was not even announced to the public.

The game’s demo is now available on the Nintendo store while its full version will be released on July 13.
