WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., June 22, 2017 -- ReachLocal, a leader in powering online marketing for local businesses and a part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, today announced Sharon Rowlands was named Female CEO of the Year by CEO World in the “Mentor” category. Throughout her career and as CEO of ReachLocal, Sharon Rowlands has been a tireless advocate for helping women become successful business leaders.
“Mentoring other women is something that is very dear to me and has been a career-long effort of mine,” said Sharon Rowlands. “I’m very proud of the mentoring work we've begun at ReachLocal, for women and men. We all want the best for our respective businesses, and that starts with great leaders. Mentoring helps create great leaders.”
Along with internal policies, Ms. Rowlands established the Wadobe Group, a network of senior business women who are dedicated to supporting one another and identifying ways to help younger women reach their business and personal goals. In addition, she co-developed a research study on female CEOs and directors with Sabra Brock, the interim dean of Touro Graduate School of Business in New York. The study revealed the importance of mentors, with 82% of CEO respondents stating that a mentor played an important role in their careers.
“Even the smallest word of support or encouragement can have a significant impact on someone, and having a mentor can be a huge force in your career trajectory,” explained Rowlands.
