SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 18, 2016 -- Sedgwick LLP announced today that its partners have elected Marilyn Klinger to serve as the firm-wide chair of its Commercial Division.
Klinger's term begins immediately and follows Curtis Parvin's tenure as chair of the division. As head of the Commercial Division, Klinger will oversee numerous business practices, including antitrust and unfair competition, business litigation, construction, corporate, creditors' rights and bankruptcy, employment and labor, intellectual property, real estate and finance and real estate litigation.
Klinger has a long track record of leadership in the legal community and within the firm. Hastings College of the Law Alumni Board of Governors, and is the 2015 recipient of Sedgwick's Ernest "Bud" Arnold Mentor Award for Commitment and Expertise in Mentoring and Counseling.
"It is a pleasure to announce that Marilyn will be assuming this new leadership role with our firm," Sedgwick Chair Michael Healy said. "Her knowledge, skill and impeccable reputation within and outside of the firm make her the ideal candidate to lead this multidisciplinary, multifaceted division."
"I am honored to have been selected by my colleagues to lead the firm's Commercial Division and join the firm's Executive Committee," Klinger said. "I am also thankful to Curtis for his leadership in this role and, as his successor, I am determined to build on his many achievements in enhancing the delivery of exceptional service and results to our firm's clients."
Based in Sedgwick's Los Angeles office, Klinger has dedicated her practice to representing clients in the full spectrum of the construction industry, including owners, contractors, subcontractors, and sureties. Her practice includes time-related claims and litigation; legal advice and counsel regarding the contracting process; payment enforcement/defense; administrative and scope claims and litigation; and counseling and transactional services to the construction industry. In addition, Klinger has extensive experience in dispute resolution including litigation, trial, appeals, arbitration, and mediation.
