SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 08, 2018 -- Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connectivity company, today announced that RTI Connext® DDS Professional was named a 2018 SIIA CODiE Awards finalist in the “Best IoT Solution” category, for the second consecutive year. Finalists represent the best products, technologies, and services in software, information and business technology.
RTI Connext DDS Professional is the ideal connectivity framework for mission-critical IIoT systems, such as autonomous vehicles, the smart grid and connected medical devices. These systems are critical because if they fail for even a second, the results could be catastrophic. In addition, typical IIoT systems require sharing data across multiple networks, such as from the edge to the fog to the cloud. Because of their demanding requirements, these IIoT systems have traditionally required custom approaches to data connectivity, which are costly and time consuming to build in-house. By eliminating this need, implementing RTI’s standards-based solution significantly reduces development, integration and maintenance costs.
Connext DDS Professional is RTI’s flagship product. The foundation of Connext DDS is RTI's distributed networking databus, a data-centric messaging bus for scalable and reliable communication between applications distributed across processors and networks. With the RTI databus, applications exchange information by simply reading and writing data objects; RTI Connext DDS handles all the underlying complexity including discovery, efficient data routing and failover.
The SIIA CODiE Awards are the premier awards for the software and information industries and have been recognizing product excellence for over 30 years. The awards offer 91 categories that are organized by industry focus of education technology and business technology. RTI Connext DDS Professional was honored as one of 167 finalists across the 52 business technology categories.
“The 2018 CODiE Award finalists are some of the most innovative, high-impact products in the market. We are happy to recognize these products and the power they have to transform the future of how we do business,” said Ken Wasch, president of SIIA.
“Connectivity is the critical foundation of high performance, intelligent IIoT systems and RTI Connext DDS is the only connectivity software that was designed specifically for these mission-critical systems,” said David Barnett, vice president of products and markets at RTI. “With our technology, our customers are changing the way we commute to work, get treated in a hospital and manage electricity. We are honored to once again be recognized as a CODiE finalist in the ‘Best IoT Solution’ category and we look forward to continuing to work with our customers to transform the world as we know it.”
The SIIA CODiE Awards are the industry's only peer-recognized awards program. Business technology leaders including senior executives, analysts, media, consultants and investors evaluate assigned products during the first-round review which determines the finalists. SIIA members then vote on the finalist products and the scores from both rounds are tabulated to select the winners. Winners will be announced during the Business Technology CODiE Award Celebration at the SIIA Annual Conference & CODiE Awards, June 12 in San Francisco.
