The Microsoft Surface Book 3 is one of the most highly anticipated gadgets especially since the company has not released a new version of the product in over two years. But if a recent leak is indeed true, the device might already be in the works.
Leaker @_rogame posted what many believed to be benchmarks of the upcoming Microsoft Surface Book3, Tech Radar reported. The interesting thing is that the benchmarks show multiple configurations for the gadget.
In one supposed Microsoft Surface Book 3 benchmark, the device is equipped with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 TI Max-Q with an Intel Core i7-1065G7 as its processor. In another benchmark, the same processor was used but it is now paired with a GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q for its video card.
While both benchmarks user the Intel Core i7-1065G7 - an Intel Ice Lake chip - as the processor, it appears that it’s not the only chip being considered. In fact, another benchmark shows that a still-unidentified processor was used, one that might even be better than an Ice Lake chip performance-wise.
Tech Radar wrote that having an Ice Lake as the Microsoft Surface Book 3’s processor is reasonable. The current-gen device, the Surface Book s, features 8th-Gen Intel Core processors, so an upgrade to the higher-end Ice Lake is to be expected.
While the benchmarks did not exactly specify which gadget they belong to, there are two reasons why experts believe that they are for the Microsoft Surface Book 3. The first reason is that Microsoft is listed as the vendor in the benchmarks. This means that Microsoft is the OEM or the manufacturer of the entire device and not the maker or developer of the GPU, according to NotebookCheck.
The second reason is that in Microsoft’s lineup of devices, the Surface Book is the only series with a low-powered mobile processor and a dedicated GPU (dGPU). This means that unless the company plans to introduce a new line of devices, the specs shown in the benchmarks could only belong to the upcoming Surface Book 3.
Unfortunately, no Surface Book 3 release date was included in the leak. Stay tuned for more updates.
