At the conclusion of its 150th anniversary celebrations, yesterday in Turin the Italian daily La Stampa organized an international conference entitled "The Future of Newspapers", which involved the leading global players in the information sector.
The many noteworthy figures invited by La Stampa's Chairman, John Elkann, to debate this issue included Robert Allbritton (Politico), Lionel Barber (The Financial Times), Jeff Bezos (The Washington Post), Mario Calabresi (La Repubblica), Carlo De Benedetti (GEDI), Louis Dreyfus (Le Monde), Bobby Ghosh (Hindustan Times), Tsuneo Kita (Nikkei), Jessica Lessin (The Information), Gary Liu (South China Morning Post Publishers), John Micklethwait (Bloomberg News), Zanny Minton Beddoes (The Economist), Maurizio Molinari (La Stampa), Lydia Polgreen (The Huffington Post), Julian Reichelt (Bild), Ascanio Seleme (O Globo), Andrew Ross Sorkin (The New York Times), Massimo Russo (GEDI), Mark Thompson (The New York Times) and Robert Thomson (NewsCorp).
