“Game Of Thrones” Season 7 Spoilers: Did A New Fan Theory Confirm Cersei’s Killer? "Valonqar" Interpretation Suggests It’s Not Jaime or Tyrion

Kit Harington plays Jon Snow on HBO's 'Game of Thrones'

In “Game Of Thrones” Cersei’s (Lena Headey) rise to ascend the Iron Throne has ignited many fans’ desire to see her go in a major fashion.

Now, a new fan theory suggest a mindblowing alternative, and could eliminate Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) in the running to be her future killer. According to multiple reports, the most likely person who would kill Cersei in the end would be none other than Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

Harper’s Bazaar said that this started with the prophecy Cersei received from Maggy the Frog. Cersei asked Maggy if she will bear more children, to which she replied, "Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds. And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."

Refinery29 said the word “valonqar” is a Valyrian word for “little brother,” of which fans wasted no time looking at her brothers Jaime and Tyrion. Considering the character of Cersei in the series, it was no doubt that either one of them fits the bill.  However, a Redditor has another idea.

User self.gameofthrones wrote, "Since the Valonqar is Valyrian for the little brother, most people think that Jaime, or maybe Tyrion, will kill Cersei. I think that in a show as unpredictable of “Game of Thrones,” this is too obvious. So Cersei’s murderer could be anyone who is a little brother. But saying this in Valyrian suggests that the person will have Valyrian blood. The Targaryens have Valyrian blood. Jon Snow is a Targaryen. He is the little brother of Rhaenys and Aegon. He wants to kill Cersei. I think it is very likely that he does."

Digital Spy, on the other hand, thinks that while this is a sound theory, Cersei’s death might not be what people expect. Moreover, Cersei’s death may also be figuratively, and could only mean her downfall following her potential business with Tycho Nestoris (Mark Gatiss) of the Iron Bank to secure her hold on the Iron Throne.

“Game of Thrones” Season 7 will premiere in July on HBO.
