‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Spoilers: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Almost Slips Massive Detail About Lannister Twins; Major Villain’s Death Teased

‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau almost slipped a massive detail about the Lannister twins Jaime and Cersei during a recent interview. It was speculated that one of the twins may be involved romantically with someone new. Meanwhile, a major villain’s impending death was also teased in a separate interview.

During an interview with the Daily Beast, star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was pressed for details regarding his character Jaime Lannister and his relationships with Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and sister Cersei (Lena Headey).

When asked to address the theory that Jaime will fulfill the prophecy and end up killing off Cersei while defending Brienne (Gwendoline Christie), Coster-Waldau only replied, “That’s a great theory.” When asked about Brienne and Jaime’s relationship, the actor explained, “It’s built out of contempt, which has turned into real respect, and love—not that they would ever use that word. I think they feel very strongly for each other. I have no idea if they would ever be able to act on it, and I don’t think they would. It’s all been about Cersei his whole life.”

Coster-Waldau almost revealed a massive spoiler about Jaime when he talked about Cersei and Jaime’s relationship in the upcoming season. He said, “That’s what I like about Jaime: he’s lost his arm and just his presence used to be enough to sway people, and he doesn’t have that anymore—but he’s still got his mind. He’s not like his sister and brother, but he’s been on the battlefield his whole life, and knows about people’s weaknesses and loving someone unconditionally—because he loves his sister unconditionally.”

He continued, “Plus, there are no other suitors. Well, that’s not true… but he has to step up and take his father’s place. Wow, I was about to reveal something from Season 7 and thought, “What am I doing?”

It was speculated that one of the Lannister twins may find another object of affection in the upcoming season that will ultimately split the siblings-turned-lovers apart for good. According to E! News, one of the more popular fan theories suggest that Cersei will get involved with Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk),  the newly-crowned king of the Iron Islands who successfully murdered his own brother.

Meanwhile, Asbæk also hinted that his character may not be returning for more episodes in the future during an interview to promote his role in the live-action film adaptation of ‘The Ghost in the Shell.’ According to Games Radar, the actor was asked about his plans for the future of ‘Thrones’ to which he replied, “I may be going to do some more Game of Thrones. Maybe I won’t. I’ll take a break. I want to see my wife and daughter. I’ve missed them a lot.”

It is unclear whether Euron will meet his demise in the upcoming season but basing on Asbæk’s reply, it seems that Euron’s fate is currently on a limbo considering that season 7 has recently concluded filming. The character was last seen going after his blood relatives Yara (Gemma Whelan) and Theon (Alfie Allen), after they fled for fear of their lives following his crowning as the new king.

‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is expected to premiere on HBO on July 16, 2017.
