Several “Grand Theft Auto” games have been rumored to get remaster releases, and it appears that fans just got solid proof that it is actually happening. An unannounced game titled “GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition” was recently spotted in an official database for game ratings.
Video game tipster Nibel was one of the first to find that the “GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition” has been rated by Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC). The game collection received its classification on Thursday with classification number CC-NP-210930-001.
It is not strange for games to pass through rating boards first before they are announced. While this does not usually provide much information about gameplay and other aspects of the title, it is usually a good sign that a rumored game is most likely in the pipeline and could launch in the near future.
The title listed is also interesting. It can be recalled that Rockstar Games released an original “GTA: The Trilogy” in 2005 initially as an Xbox exclusive. The game compilation was later launched on other platforms, including PS2, Windows, Mac OS X, and PS4. The title might also be a hint at what games are going to be remastered. The original trilogy bundle was composed of “GTA 3,” “GTA: Vice City,” and “GTA: San Andreas.” Meanwhile, having “Definitive Edition” in the title is likely hinting at their remastered versions and a few bonus content.
Following the appearance of “GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition” at the GRAC database, Kotaku reported that the game compilation is still slated to launch this year. The developer purportedly planned to deliver the game in October at the earliest, but the time frame has been changed, and it is now expected to arrive in November. A launch next month would also mean that “GTA” fans will not be entirely empty-handed after Rockstar announced the expanded and enhanced version of “GTA V” has been delayed to March 2022.
Meanwhile, fans on Reddit are speculating that the “GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition” might be announced sometime this month. “GTA 3” will mark its 20th anniversary on Oct. 22, and since it is a likely game included in the remastered collection, it would make sense for Rockstar to announce it around that time.
