NEW YORK, Jan. 30, 2017 -- ICAP Patent Brokerage announces for sale computerized navigation, routing, and location data patents, available from inventor Ian Cummings. This portfolio is offered as part of the brokerage’s Spring 2017 Patent Catalog, with a bidding deadline of March 9th, 2017.
“This technology is a significant improvement over existing navigation systems, which are fundamental to the success of autonomous vehicles, as well as modern logistics,” said Paul Greco, Sr. VP of Sales at ICAP Patent Brokerage.
Key Characteristics & Benefits
With a 2006 priority date, the portfolio for sale pertains to “server-client” navigators, where some of the functions of the navigator are performed external to the navigation device. The portfolio discloses novel systems and methods for use with navigation units, route generation methods, rich user interface features, a means of reducing the amount of data transmitted by the system, and a novel method of advertising on navigation systems.
Extant technology in this class includes smartphone navigators, connected car and telematics systems, personal navigation devices, autonomous vehicles, and mapping web sites. This is an important portfolio for companies involved in telematics, smartphone navigators, personal navigation devices, in-dash GPS, as well as routing and logistics middleware. The increased use of telematics within the automotive industry has increased the scope of the GPS market to over $26 billion, annually.
