LIVERMORE, Calif., April 30, 2018 -- FormFactor, Inc. (NASDAQ:FORM), a leading electrical test and measurement supplier to the semiconductor industry, was again ranked as the world’s number one supplier of semiconductor probe cards for 2017 by market research firm VLSIresearch. In its annual report on the probe card market, VLSI reported that FormFactor increased its market share to 34% of the advanced probe card market, with more than double the share of its nearest competitor.
VLSIresearch forecasts the advanced probe card market will grow at 5.6% CAGR to reach $1.87 billion by 2022. According to their survey, the fastest growing sub-segment in this sector is MEMS fabricated probe cards growing at 6.7% CAGR, where FormFactor grew its leading share position to 40% of the $927M market. According to VLSIresearch, factors contributing to this trend include the use of advanced probe card technologies to both enable the testing of advanced packaging technologies and to reduce overall test costs.
