Elon Musk Tells Climate Change Deniers To Get A Thermometer

Sunrise.U. S. Department of Agriculture/NOAA

The vast majority of scientists agree that climate change is real and that it is being sped up by human activity, there’s no debate there. Unfortunately, there are still those with influence in the political sphere that denies its existence. To them and people like them, Tesla CEO Elon Musk says to get a thermometer. This is a tongue-in-cheek reference to recent developments involving high temperatures grounding planes.

Recently, the National Weather Service in Arizona reported that temperatures in the region were reaching 118 degrees F, which led to up to 50 airplanes being grounded. Such levels of heat would have placed passengers and the plane at risk, Forbes reports.

This is the development that Musk was referencing when he Tweeted that those who believe climate change is a hoax should just get a thermometer. He even included the link to the Forbes article, which certainly drives the sarcasm home.

Musk has been a strong supporter of legislation that cut down carbon emissions and investments in renewable energy, all of which resist climate change. It’s the whole point to why he created Tesla and Solar City. On the other hand, people should not make the mistake of thinking that his Tweet to use a thermometer to prove the existence of climate change.

As Futurism points out, thousands of special thermometers are needed in order to record the temperature shifts that constitute abnormal variance. What’s more, accurate records and comparisons, as well as expert analyses of warming and cooling patterns would be needed to confirm that the changes are indeed increasing.

On the other hand, Musk is simply pointing out that the article provides a very clear link regarding increasing incidents of global warming and climate change. Unfortunately, many of his followers would rather debate the difference between weather and climate than face the cruel reality of an impending global death crisis.
