Donald Trump: POTUS to visit Kenosha in light of recent civil unrest

The state of Wisconsin has recently seen civil unrest following the shooting of Jacob Blake by police officers. In the midst of the current protests happening in the state, Donald Trump will be making a visit this week.

BBC reports that Trump will be visiting Kenosha, Wisconsin on Tuesday. On his visit, he will be meeting with local law enforcement officers as well as take a look at the damage that was done during the recent protests following the shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot multiple times in the back by police officers. Blake survived the shooting but is paralyzed from the waist down. It is unclear whether he will be able to walk again.

This is the latest of protests calling for an end to systemic racism and police brutality in the United States, months since the killing of George Floyd that reignited the protests of the Black Lives Matter movement.

When pressed on whether or not Trump will personally visit Blake’s family, White House spokesperson Judd Deere said that it has yet to be determined. In turn, Trump has not said much about the shooting, but only that he will be looking into the case of the officer responsible for shooting Blake, which was also captured on video.

Black Lives Matter protests occurred in Kenosha over the weekend with over 1,000 people present. Blake’s father, Jacob Blake Sr., urged the demonstrators to maintain a peaceful protest while asking for justice for his son. During the protests, 1,000 troops of the National Guard were present.

Meanwhile, Trump also took to Twitter to rip into his niece Mary Trump, most likely following the recent recordings that surfaced of her conversation with her aunt, Donald’s older sister Maryanne Trump Barry. Barry was heard to not only be criticizing her brother, but also her niece Ivanka Trump and nephew, Eric Trump.

In two tweets aimed not just at his niece, but of other authors who have written books about him and his administration, Trump attacked them and labeled them with his usual “Fake news.”

“...Even if it’s dumb warmongers like John Bolton, social pretenders like Bob Woodward, who never has anything good to say, or an unstable niece, who was now rightfully shunned, scorned, and mocked her entire life, and never even liked by her own kind & caring grandfather!” tweeted Trump.
