If you’re the kind of person that likes to wait until they don’t have any more free space on their device before they decide to do something about it, you’re probably having a miserable time with your machine’s performance. The more clogged up it is with files and applications, the more likely a PC is to run really badly. Freeing up space is one of the best methods of reliving the congestion and allowing the computer and it’s OS to freely go about their processes. If you’re afraid of having to move a ton of files at the same time, you can always use software like Paragon Software. That being said, let’s get started.
Take out the trash
Some people are as lazy with taking out the trash on their Windows desktops as they are with the real life trash. The effects of not taking out the trash are pretty similar in both situations. On the computer, the recycle bin isn’t a self-sufficient partition. Instead, it draws memory from a partition on your computer and it populates that space with the files that you’ve deleted. This is great because you have a chance to visit the recycle bin and restore something if you’ve changed your mind but it’s also terrible because you’re eating away at your partition. By default, it’s assigned to partition C, where most people install Windows. This means that every time you’re deleting something but aren’t removing it from the bin, you’re putting more pressure on Windows and thus the system as a whole performs worse.
Use cloud technology
Use a cloud service to store files. Instead of congesting your computer’s memory with a ton of files, you can alleviate some of that pressure by moving a branch of your files onto cloud. There are many cloud services out there and most of them even give you a welcome present in the form of a preset amount of GB for you to use. If you need more, you can always buy a bigger playroom on the cloud platform. You can route your files to the cloud storage so that new files will transfer directly there which is pretty neat and very helpful.
Don’t use apps as bench warmers
If you’re not going to use an application, uninstall it. Don’t just leave it installed in the hopes that you might someday find use for it. A lot of people make a complete mess of their computers this way, and it’s one of the top reasons why their computers run poorly even though they’ve got great specs. Make sure to only keep the programs that you actually want to use so that your computer will always dish out maximum performance.
