ATLANTA, May 01, 2018 --
UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced Chris Cassidy as vice president of global healthcare logistics strategy. He is charged with leading and advancing UPS’s commitment to the healthcare supply chain, which remains a top company priority.
“As UPS transforms our business for the future and invests in our global healthcare-compliant distribution infrastructure, it’s imperative that we have the right innovative leaders to keep our healthcare supply chain strategy nimble and effective,” says Alan Gershenhorn, UPS chief commercial officer. “Chris’ extensive healthcare-compliant supply chain roles at GSK along with his other experience and thought leadership make him a great fit to help UPS meet the complex demands of our healthcare and life science customers.”
Cassidy possesses 18+ years of global logistics and business change experience, holding various supply chain operations, strategy and transformation roles at global healthcare company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). He led GSK’s End-to-End Logistics Partnership for major 3PL LSPs. He also supported corporate go-to-market strategies overseeing GSK’s international air and ocean freight forwarding transportation for the healthcare supply chain and most recently the transformation of the European FTL/LTL road network.
Cassidy has extensive supply chain logistics and packaging (i.e., temperature-control solutions) experience, and is credited with creating key efficiencies within global pharma warehousing and distribution networks. He was previously responsible for developing an innovative, award-winning “single management” freight forwarding and healthcare manufacturing collaboration that resulted in better visibility, and ensured control and compliance for regional supply chain teams. Cassidy’s other areas of healthcare supply chain expertise encompass customs brokerage, contract logistics, and mergers and acquisition integration.
UPS has approximately 7 million square feet of cGMP- or cGDP-compliant healthcare distribution space worldwide. UPS also maintains one of the world’s largest networks of field stocking locations with approximately 950 sites. For parcels requiring strict temperature environments, from CRT to cryogenic, and those requiring around-the-clock monitoring, UPS has solutions such as UPS Temperature True™ and UPS Proactive Response™ services. UPS continues to invest in its healthcare capabilities, including acquisitions of Marken, CEMELOG, Pieffe, Poltraf and Polar Speed.
Cassidy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and a supply chain Executive Certificate from MIT. He will be based in Atlanta.
