COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 22, 2016 -- The continued growth of Approach PR & Marketing’s unique virtual agency concept has earned the company recognition as a finalist in The Business Excellence Awards, a national competition honoring the “Best of the Best” in the small-and-medium sized business sector. Founded by Columbus-based entrepreneur Megan Shroy, Approach PR & Marketing is one of five businesses nationwide from among more than 200 nominees in contention for the “Fastest Growing Company” award.
The idea for Approach PR & Marketing grew out of the 2010 recession. Previously employed by a large PR agency, Megan watched as many of her former clients could no longer afford their high-priced monthly retainers. Knowing they still needed and wanted access to senior talent, she set out on her own, bringing together a network of independent consultants situated throughout the country who pair their expertise to clients of all sizes. In 2015, the company grew by 130%. Clients include Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana, Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop, Oliver Winery & Vineyards, The Berry Company, LocalVox, Donatos Pizza and Charleys Philly Steaks.
“The Approach concept is appealing to both clients and consultants because it’s practical for today’s business climate,” said founder Megan Shroy. “Clients gain access to top talent they would never be able to afford in the traditional agency model, and consultants achieve greater work-life balance because they define how much and where they work.”
The Business Excellence Awards were created in 2011 to honor the achievements and accomplishments of owners in industries and categories from around the world. There are currently five Business Excellence Award competitions worldwide: United States, Canada, Australia, Indonesia and United Kingdom. A panel of business owners reviews the nominations and selects finalists.
The U.S. Business Excellence Awards will name winners in 16 categories during a presentation on Monday, February 22 at The Business Excellence Awards and Forum in Orlando, Fla. More than 450 business owners and executives are expected to attend.
“One of the many reasons for Approach’s success is that Megan isn’t afraid to challenge the way business has traditionally been done,” said Heather Yakes, an ActionCoach certified business coach and Approach PR & Marketing’s nominator. “Megan rejected the idea that great work has to be done under a big roof, or with the approval of many bosses. Approach is grounded in the effective elements of agency business – providing skilled, inspired experts to clients without the expensive burden of corporate overhead.”
The Business Excellence Forum and Awards is a global series of two-day workshops designed to deliver the best, most effective and highest ROI business strategies to business owners and entrepreneurs, their teams, their clients and customers.
