FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 18, 2016 -- American Airlines applauds the United States government for reaching a new aviation agreement with Japan regarding access at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND).
“We thank the U.S. Departments of Transportation and State, as well as the Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, for taking this important step to enhance the U.S.-Japan aviation relationship,” said American’s President Scott Kirby. “We offer our sincere thanks to Secretary Kerry, Under Secretary Novelli, Secretary Foxx, Assistant Secretary Kurland and their teams for their leadership and commitment to achieving this deal. It’s important for our customers to have convenient access to downtown Tokyo during the day, and this agreement also allows for desirable arrival and departure times in the U.S. for Haneda service.”
Last week, American began daily, year-round, nonstop service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Haneda utilizing nighttime slots. American’s flight arrives at HND at 11 p.m. and departs at 1:30 a.m. The departure and arrival times will change this fall when daytime Haneda slots are anticipated to be available. Earlier arrival times in the U.S. and Japan will allow for more convenient connections to American’s robust network out of LAX and its joint business partner Japan Airlines’ network beyond HND.
