SEATTLE, Feb. 23, 2016 -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 3.47 percent, up two basis points from this time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage hovered around 3.45 percent before rising to the current rate.
“Despite some volatility, mortgage rates were roughly flat last week holding near 3-year lows,” said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. “This week, several Fed speeches should provide insight into current thinking of the Federal Open Market Committee, and inflation data could move rates higher if stronger than expected. However, given recent history, the likeliest path is for rates to remain roughly flat.”
Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market. These are not marketing rates, or a weekly survey.
The rate for a 15-year fixed home loan is currently 2.69 percent, while the rate for a 5-1 adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) is 2.78 percent.
