Zach from JerryRigEverything released a video titled "Smartphone Durability Awards 2023!" before the start of the New Year, in which he recommends the top handsets in several categories.
Apple may not have won any repairability awards last year, but the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max took first place in internal aesthetics. Google's mid-range Pixel 7a, which earned the most durable smartphone title, was an unexpected participant on this list.
Fairphone 5 Called 'Most Repair-Friendly'
Beginning with the most repairable, the JerryRigEverything claims that the Fairphone 5 wins in this category since every component it contains can be easily replaced with a screwdriver, and replacement parts are readily available from the manufacturer. This business strategy eliminates the need to shop at online shops like AliExpress.
The Fairphone 5 also has a limited 5-year guarantee, providing buyers with added peace of mind. Unfortunately, this technology is not yet officially available in the United States, but given the ever-changing nature of the market, this could change soon.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro was the runner-up for the most repair-friendly smartphone in 2023, with components accessible via iFixit. Unfortunately, some instruments, such as a heat gun, are still required to release the display's adhesive, although the process is still more straightforward than what other manufacturers constantly practice.
Google Pixel 7a Named The 'Most Durable'
ASUS' ROG Phone 7 Ultimate was the least repairable smartphone, beating Apple. Any third-party repair workers will be ripping out their hair trying to unscrew and reassemble these parts due to their three distinct circuit boards, two batteries, and a slew of ribbon cables linked with glue and screws.
However, in addition to being named the least repairable phone of 2023, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate was also named the most innovative smartphone, thanks to its motorized flap that opens to show a copper heatsink used to dissipate hot air.
iPhone 15 Pro Won' Best Looking Smartphone on the Inside' Award
About the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, Zach says that from the inside, both flagships are the "coolest looking," however, he did have some concerns about Apple's deceptive marketing methods regarding the titanium chassis used on both phones. Instead of a solid block of titanium, Apple employs a "superficial" coating put on top of aluminum, as per WCCFTech.
Google's Pixel Fold is the most diminutive foldable smartphone, but the Pixel 7a is the most durable, largely thanks to its polycarbonate rear. Mountain View has now received three smartphone awards. While we haven't listed all of the awards, we recommend watching the video to understand better which phone manufacturer focuses on certain aspects of their future model since this will allow you to plan your upgrade correctly.
