CD Projekt Red has other deliverables related to the “Cyberpunk 2077,” including the confirmed standalone multiplayer. However, following the game’s underwhelming launch on last-generation consoles, the Polish government is reportedly keeping a close eye on the studio’s progress in bringing out its promised patches first.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’ multiplayer is still in the works; datamine reveals first details
There are very few details known about the “Cyberpunk 2077” multiplayer. Developers previously confirmed that it will be released as a standalone game and have microtransactions. But anything about its gameplay is still under wraps until this week when information from datamine has reportedly leaked some of the possible multiplayer content.
DSOGaming shared the information from a datamine of a “Cyberpunk 2077” executable file. It reveals that there are currently two game modes planned for the multiplayer, including heist-themed gameplay and another similar to deathmatch.
Like many multiplayer titles, the one for “Cyberpunk 2077” would include character classes, at least for the heist mode. The choices appear to have “Solo,” “Assassin,” “Netrunner,” and “Techie.” Since it will be an online game, the presence of files referring to a “lobby” is not surprising.
The same report suggests the possibility of “Cyberpunk 2077” multiplayer relying on peer-to-peer connections. If that were the case, it would mean CD Projekt Red is not planning to have dedicated servers for the game. However, the source noted that this is still tentative since the online multiplayer is still in development. The studio has yet to provide a release window, but some fans think it could take a couple more years.
Polish government agency to monitor CD Projekt Red’s work on ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ patches
The idea of running around Night City in groups is enough to excite “Cyberpunk 2077” players. But many say they do not want to think about it, for now, considering the game’s current state, especially on last-gen consoles. It appears that the Polish government is also interested in the status of game fixes and significant patches.
Polish website Benchmark reported that the country’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) would be monitoring CD Projekt Red’s work on upcoming “Cyberpunk 2077” patches. It can be recalled that, as part of the promise to fix the game, the studio announced two big patches arriving, one in January and another in February.
