I hold a double major from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte in Industrial Operations and Management information System with a minor in Japanese. I have a Masters in Higher Education from Appalachian State University. I have a PhD in Aviation Human Factors and Safety Management Systems from the University of South Australia completed in 2012. My PhD thesis looked at how emotions play an important role in decision making in high-risk environments. My research focused on airline pilots. I have 40 years in the aviation industry as a pilot having flown military, commercial airline, private charter and emergency medical service. I have also done Human Factors curriculum development for a US based university.
