Jane is an Emeritus Professor with the Writing and Society Research Centre at the University of Western Sydney.
Her research is concerned with the dynamics of cultural crisis, historically and in the present. She is the author of a wide range of books and essays on literary and cultural history, and her most recent book is The Politics of the Common Good (NewSouth 2019). She writes regularly for Inside Story, and her work has also appeared recently in Sydney Review of Books and Griffith Review.
