David Carroll is a Melbourne-based economist and researcher, currently working at Monash University as Senior Manager, Strategic Information in the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education). Before moving to Monash University in 2016, David was employed as Senior Research Associate at Graduate Careers Australia, and has held fixed-term research appointments at the University of Western Australia. A higher education specialist, David has authored numerous reports, papers and articles on issues relating to higher education, including the graduate labour market, student experience, institutional research methodologies and student retention, some being published in top journals. David has presented papers at meetings and conferences across the globe, and has collaborated with leading research and policy institutes, including the Grattan Institute and the National Institute of Labour Studies. David was awarded his PhD in economics from UNSW Canberra in 2015.
