Microsoft has been aggressive in adding games, old and new, to its Xbox Game Pass catalog without forgetting about the Xbox Live Gold program. For next month, the latter is getting another list of four free games for its subscribers headlined by "Lego Batman: The Videogame."
Xbox Live Gold list of free games in May 2021
The company has unveiled the full list of free games accessible via Xbox Live Gold throughout May. The independently-produced board game “Armello” will be available from May 1 to 31. One of the main features of its gameplay is having four players assume the role of Hero characters, which are anthropomorphic animals with unique abilities. With dice and cards, players will be able to initiate battles, explorations, use spells, and fight monsters.
Action-adventure “Lego Batman: The Videogame” will be available through Xbox Live Gold from May 1 to 15. The game is distinct from other works of developer Traveller’s Tales as this one features an original plot. But it does not lose the main elements of the franchise, such as having Batman and Robin facing villains across Gotham City. The main premise is that the bad guys had escaped from the Arkham Asylum and have grouped themselves into three teams led by well-known villains Riddler, Penguin, and Joker.
Starting May 16, Xbox Live Gold will be able to access the full gameplay of “Tropico 4,” which allows them to assume the role of El Presidente. As the leader of a nation, the tasks include more than just building structures. Players will also have to deal with diplomatic relationships with foreign countries and make sure the citizens’ needs are met. However, the game’s free access is rather short and will be available only until May 31.
“Dungeons 3,” which lets players build dungeons using real-time strategy gameplay, completes the lineup of Xbox Live Gold’s free games next month. Once dungeons are completed, players will then have to defend them from outside forces or attack those that pose a threat to their underground lair. The game will be available from May 16 to June 15.
Xbox Live Gold: How much does it cost
While access to these games will not require payment, fans do need an active Xbox Live Gold account to enjoy the promo. The monthly subscription is available for $9.99, while the quarterly plan requires a one-time payment of $24.99. Avid Xbox gamers might also save more if they opt for the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ($14.99/month) that includes access to Xbox Live Gold and EA Play games lists.
