A new trailer for “The Punisher” Season 2 is out and the impact has been a mix of both uncontained hype and heartbreak for the fans. On the one hand, it would seem that the upcoming season promises plenty of action and fantastic cinematography for viewers. Unfortunately, there is the looming sword of cancellation hanging over the heads of those who have already invested emotionally on the show.
The clip below shows some truly inspired scenes of bloodshed and satisfaction that the show will be offering fans once it premieres. However, The Verge points out what is already on everyone’s mind even as the clip increases the hype for “The Punisher” Season 2: This might just be the final season of the show on Netflix.
Among the biggest controversies to come up recently with regards to the streaming service are the cancellations of its three Marvel projects, ‘Dardevil,’ ‘Luke Cage,’ and ‘Iron Fist.’ Suffice it to say, this caused a wave of apprehension among fans who are looking forward to “The Punisher” Season 2. They may be getting an awesome second season of the hit program but it might be axed soon after.
Looking at the trailer, it’s clear that fans have a lot to look forward to in “The Punisher” Season 2, as well. Not only will there be lots of shootouts to anticipate, but the way these action scenes are filmed also appears to have gotten an upgrade, as well. It’s simply unfortunate that the happiness that fans feel about the show is dampened by the fear of its potential cancellation.
In any case, “The Punisher” Season 2 will premiere on Jan. 18. If this is indeed going to be the last time that fans can enjoy Frank Castle’s (Jon Bernthal) vigilante outing, they might as well make the most of it.
